Developing Academic Language: 3

In this clip, Priscilla shares her own sentence about poison oak. Sharing your personal experiences with students helps them to connect to the learning and may even support their own understanding of a concept. Don’t be afraid to share a few fun facts from your own life with kids. It makes the learning feel real for students.

After completing most of the chart, Priscilla asks the students to answer a question at the bottom of their note taking chart.

After students have finished their writing, they share out their completed sentence with a partner at their table.
