Here, Karin facilitates the group work to move students along. At this point in the lesson she is supporting their work, but is careful to not give away answers. This allows students to build confidence in their own thinking.

Karin stops the activity to remind students about writing predictions and statements as well as questions. This helps to keep students on task and focused on their purpose.

Karin brings the students back to the purpose of writing all three types of sentences. Notice how the maraca she is using to capture students’ attention really helps to quite the kids down so that she is not yelling over their voices.
