Module 7: Graphic Organizers

graphic org Graphic Organizers- Graphic organizers are visual devices teachers and students use for recording, grouping and classifying information about a specific topic. They convert complex information into a more comprehensible format by helping students identify key concepts and their relationships. The language used in graphic organizers is direct, focused and represents academic concepts. They come in all shapes and sizes and can be adapted for individual texts and assignments.

Teaching students to use graphic organizers such as webs, Venn diagrams, and charts helps them better comprehend dense, subject matter texts. These visual tools help ELs understand and organize information. Graphic Organizers can also help students develop higher level thinking skills, become more active in their learning and promote creativity. Graphic Organizers are excellent tools in achieving the goal of helping help them summarize and interpret text.
