Tbithell2he textbook shows an answer of 5.36 inches. However, it is not common to see decimals such as 5.36 used in describing inches. Rather, because of the way rulers are designed, we are used to seeing such numbers as 8 1/2 inches or 7 3/4 inches. For example, 8.25 inches is commonly written 8 1/4 inches.
