Welcome to the Mathematics: K–8 Learning Progressions module.

This module will provide detailed information on how the CCSS for Mathematics K–8 learning progressions are sequenced across and within grade-level spans (such as grade spans K–5 and 6–8) and how to apply the learning progressions to instructional practice.

This module contains the following:

• Pre-Assessment                                              
  • Assesses the participant’s knowledge of the CCSS for Mathematics: K–8 learning progressions prior to completing the module.
• Unit 1: Introducing the Learning Progressions         
  • Participants will develop an awareness of the history and rationale of the CCSS for mathematics and how K–8 learning progressions impact instruction and learning.
• Unit 2: Unpacking the Learning Progressions          
  • Participants will develop knowledge of the mathematical learning progressions within and across grade level spans.
• Unit 3: Applying the Learning Progressions
  • Participants will apply a Mathematics K–8 learning progression and increase awareness of how to encourage creative and reflective thinking, foster conceptual understanding, and support the ability to solve real-world mathematical problems for all students.
• Unit 4 Summarizing the Learning Progressions    
  • Participants will review and summarize understanding of mathematics K–8 learning progressions. 
• Post-Assessment                                                      
  • Assesses the participant’s knowledge of the mathematics K–8 learning progressions upon completion of the module.
• Module Evaluation
  • The Module Evaluation will allow the participant to provide feedback about this online module.
