Variations
Variation 1
This variation is great for including everyone:
1. Ask participants to stand around the circle, spaced
equally from one another.
2. Once in position, their feet become stuck in place
and they cannot move for the duration of play.
3. Introduce the activity as before.
This variation increases the level of attention and
cooperation as participants must pass the yarn from person to
person to complete the task. This variation also keeps the more
extroverted crowd from dominating the activity.
Variation 2
This activity can also be fantastic when the winding is done
by hand:
1. Use multiple rings and ask the group to wind them
down as fast as possible, again with the fewest touches.
2. Or, try it in pairs where each ring must be wound to
the bottom by two participants, who must hold on to the ring at all
times.
3. Whichever you choose, vary the size of the rings to
pose a challenge to your specific group.
