English Learners Strand
pider's Web explores the idea of trust. Do you trust your
team-mates to lift you through the web? Do your team-mates trust
you? Do you trust some people more than others?
In this extension, students will draw a large spider's web on a
piece of paper. The web should have four large openings to write
in. They can draw a large, menacing spider at the top, if they are
so inclined.
In each opening, they will write one of the following phrases:
- "What is trust?"
- "I trust people who..."
- "People trust me when I..."
- "I need to trust people when..."
Once everyone has completed their drawing and phrases, do a
group brainstorm on each phrase, starting with "What is trust?"
Then, give them a moment to silently write in their own thoughts on
their paper. Continue with the other three phrases.
