Welcome to Unit 3: Learning From Students’ Work and Teachers’ Lessons
Learning Objectives for Unit 3
Throughout and upon completion of Unit 3, you will:
- Explore approaches to learning from and assessing
students’ work - Examine strategies for involving students in learning
from their work - Examine lessons that teach and assess writing to inform,
argue, and analyze
Units 1 and 2 examined key features of the CA CCSS for ELA/Literacy Writing and offered many opportunities to review and observe teachers and students engaged in writing lessons. Unit 3 will focus on evaluating student writing to inform instruction to ensure that students are able to meet the performance expectations of the grade level standards.
