Developing a 5E Lesson Plan

Look at the learning sequence template you just completed and select just one concept to develop a 5-E Instructional Cycle.

Time to Try

Use the 5-E Instructional Cycle template to design your lesson. Consider adding a "concept" column to each stage to help guide the science content you want students to experience. Use the concepts from the conceptual flow you developed to complete this column.

Note that the number of explore/explain stages depends on the complexity of the concept(s) you want students to understand.

When you have completed your 5-E Instructional Cycle, teach it to students. Collect student work to analyze how you might adjust instruction to meet student needs using the CAESL model for assessment from Unit 3.
