Students were given a frame for their discussion to share what they read. For example, partner A shared the text they marked with a star, then they asked partner B what they marked with a star.
2. Students sharing evidence (SL5.4) of their thinking from the activity and the text
Students used the post it protocol to share their information from their reading. They shared their experimentation results with their partners and the class. Before they wrote their claim and evidence, student discussed their ideas with their partner, using information in their notebooks.
3. Students expressing a point of view (SL5.3) their experimental findings
Students shared results with their partner and with the whole group saying why they thought the magnet was attracted to an object
