All of the sticky notes provide opportunities for student/class discussion, and all allow the teacher to observe what students are marking in the text. Because the teacher has students enter notes in their notebooks corresponding to their sticky notes, students use all of the notes as a summary of their reading. The note with an asterisk should be used in the claim and evidence statement; and, students might also use their question note to prompt their thinking about the claim and evidence.
